If my life is a song, what are people listening to?

Romans 6:13

~~~Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.~~~
Our lives are all a series of choices. We decide what we want to eat, what we want to wear, the shoes we want to show off, what we want our makeup to look like, every aspect of who we are is put on display for others. I would like to say that I don’t really care what others think about me but that just wouldn’t be 100% truthful. Some part of me no matter how small has a certain version of myself that I want people to see. That’s a choice that I make daily. Of course I usually run into everybody and their grandma on the day when I am a mess! Not even a hot mess, just a mess. But that is besides the point. When I’m intentional, there’s a version of me I like to show.
Romans 6:13 tells us we are instruments to be used one way or another.  We make daily choices that decide what type of instrument we are. Sean brought a new view of this scripture that makes so much sense!  Previously I had always thought of this scripture more along the lines of battle, us being the instruments or tools used. But think of this in terms of music, and each of us are making a song with everything we do. We can play to the tune of sinful nature, or we can play to the tune of righteousness. What is your life song saying about you?
Does the tune we are playing stand out because it’s so different from everything playing around us? This scripture tells us the fundamental issue we all ponder, who do I want to be?  So many of us get stuck on the idea that ” I am who I am and there’s nothing that will change me.”  Romans 6:13 shows us that we have a choice! We get to decide, no matter what situation has been thrust upon us, how we move forward.  When I look at my past and all the things I have been through, the mistakes I’ve made and the horrible things that have been done to me, I can choose to sing a new song in my life.  To change the tune that I hear to one that is going to show the righteousness of God.
I love looking at it like this because music is amazing to me. I can be in a terrible mood and turn on some music and walk away different.  Sitting and listening to music is just therapeutic for me.  It may not be the same for you but I know so many people who feel the same way about music. I  haven’t looked it up so sorry for that, but I am pretty sure there are scientific studies about the benefit of music.  Now take that thought and reflect it into what this scripture is saying. My life is a song with every move I make.  Am I therapeutic for others or am I dark and moody and bringing them down? Is the music I make causing others to stumble, or pointing them to move closer to Christ?
BOOM! My mind was blown by this. Something that is so precious to me and all of a sudden I am becoming that very thing.
God is moving friends, and I know without a doubt that he has given us all listeners.  What are your listeners hearing in your music?
